stepping out ... new friends, new opportunities ...

So the other day I went for coffee with a new friend... and she turns out to be a photographer!!! not just any casual photographer, but a wedding photographer!!! Can you say "God moment"!!!

I've been interested in exploring the world of wedding photography for a while now, but wasn't quite sure how to break into that area. For one thing, I don't have enough high quality equipment yet to take on clients myself, and for another thing, I don't have any experience under my belt. A person's wedding day is a very special event and there's nothing worse than losing the special memories because your photographer sucked! SO, I've been praying for some ideas on how to get into that field and give it a try (who knows, I might not even like it...) AND voila! here come my new special friend with an offer for me to tag along at the next wedding she has planned...AND do some shooting of my own (obviously without getting in the way of what she's doing) AND I can even use her spare camera! Its a perfect, made-in-heaven opportunity for me and I am SO thankful!! Hopefully I can get a few great shots that she can include in the client's package, as well as giving me a few snazzy items to start my portfolio with!!

All in all, I'm very excited :)
oh and did I mention that I she's a really great person that I'm so excited to get to know (aside from the fabulous photography connection)!

let's start at the very beginning

Why blog? that's the question I'm asking myself right now. Why put all the effort and time into writing things down, posting them, and maintaining a blog design when there's a million other things that I could be doing with my time. Well, maybe not a million, but definitely a lot. I already spend way too much time on the computer, poring over pictures, editing and endlessly tweaking my Etsy store (can't forget my "to do" list there either :), plus my new addiction to checking my stats on Society6... it seems I never have time for everything else I need to do... like paperwork for the store, yardwork, all those little sewing projects I've been meaning to do for the last few years, or taking out the garbage (ok...I have enough time to do that... I just don't like to...).

Despite all the things in the back of my mind that I keep meaning to do...(gotta just stuff them back there when they pop up :) one thing I have been growing and improving in is my relationship with God. He's my main focus... everything else doesn't really matter (except my family), but being with Him, pleasing Him, pursuing Him is the one thing in life that I refuse to back down on. I've spent too many years struggling with the procrastinating side of my personality, allowing my relationship with Him to side a little here and there, that I CANNOT bear the thought of letting that happen again. He is my passion in life (and thankfully my husband shares that all consuming passion for God which draws us ever closer together. Tim is so whole hearted in his pursuit of the things he loves that he is my constant inspiration to dig in deeper, to go further, to work harder, to live stronger. Tim's activator giftings are exactly what I need to overcome my weaknesses, and alternately, my sensitive/empathetic side has also balanced him out as well. (God knew what He was doing when He put the two of us together!)

So, again, why blog? I think the biggest question is why not? In asking my self why I should, I'm really asking myself what I have that's worth writing about, worth reading about, and simply worth sharing... and to ask myself those questions is to question whether or not I have value. Do I have worth as a child of God. Do I have His Spirit in me enabling me to reflect His light and power? Do I have something in me that can make this world a better place? The answer is invariably, undoubtedly, unarguably YES!So to that end, here is my blog. A collection of thoughts, inspirations, and art that will change the world, one step at a time...
